The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) seeks a motivated and creative professional for the role of Senior Director, Business Development and Strategic Partnerships.  The ideal candidate will have at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in partnership programs, program direction, collaborative marketing and communications, plus a successful track record in new business development. This position will report to the CEO and work with staff, volunteer subject matter experts, external consultants and agencies.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Senior Director will lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and develop new collaborations and partnerships that support programming and content distribution. They will lead activities that support the growth of the organization’s overall brand, while serving the public. This position is responsible for assessing opportunities, developing programming ideas and proposals to establish strategic partnerships that support and advance NSF’s mission and purpose. This person will draw on their demonstrated skills and expertise to lead efforts with media, third-party organizations, and relevant industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an experienced relationship-builder, marketing and communications specialist, and strategic thinker. They are creative, with excellent organizational and planning skills, and possess knowledge of and experience managing effective partnerships. They will be a senior contributor to NSF’s sleep health campaigns and content distribution strategies and will be able to generate ideas and support for new organizational activities.  This position has significant opportunity for growth and increased responsibility.

Educational Background: 
Degree in marketing, communications, or related field with at least 8-10 years of related experience
Skills/Experience: 

Key Objectives and Responsibilities:

- Develop and oversee strategies for growing corporate sponsorships, partnerships, and other forms of engagement with the organization that generate revenue to support priority initiatives

- Successfully conceptualize, identify, develop, and secure funding opportunities

-  Ensure NSF’s mission, goals and public service priorities are maintained in all collaborations and partnerships

- Lead strategic market assessments

- Form innovative and appropriate approaches to generate support from a diverse range of relevant sources

-  Work with internal NSF stakeholders across functions to develop strategies, programs, and modes of engagement

- Identify opportunities to deepen and broaden existing relationships

- Collaborate internally and with external marketing communications and public relations agencies on new partnership development, engagement, and execution

- Create proposals, pitch presentations, applications, reports and other materials as needed in support of sponsor and partnership solicitation

- Create a fulfillment plan for new partnerships, including progress tracking and reporting

- Provide active project management and ongoing oversight to ensure delivery of NSF’s objectives and partner’s expectations

- Provide expert execution for all aspects of programs including planning, timelines, logistics, budgets, and content

- Ensure that programs and partnerships meaningfully align with and contribute to NSF’s sleep and public health mission, including a focus on addressing health inequities and improving sleep health and well-being in historically underserved groups of people

Compensation/Benefits: 

This position will be a full-time position with the National Sleep Foundation.
