Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic leadership in financial development.

Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic leadership in financial development to advance the YMCA’s mission through annual giving, government & foundation grants, endowment bequests & gifts, fundraising events and capital campaigns.  Position the YMCA as a “charity of choice” for the investment of donations within the local community.  Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, YMCA Retirement Plan & a Family YMCA Membership.

 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  1. Develop and direct association annual campaign, endowment, fundraising events and capital developments.
  2. Serve as primary staff to the Financial Development Committee and other assigned committees of the Board of Directors.  Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
  3. Actively involved in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects.
  4. Create an annual campaign strategy for the Y in collaboration with executive and volunteer leadership.
  5. Establish systems for timely acknowledgements of annual campaign gifts.
  6. Collaborate with branch leadership to develop communication and campaign strategies to successfully market the annual campaign.
  7. Search, prepare and coordinate proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations.  Manage grant proposal development, compliance monitoring and reporting process.
  8. Lead or provide support for association-wide fundraising events and projects.
  9. Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the YMCA with the community.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of successful experience in financial development and grant writing.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to read, analyze, write, edit reports and correspond with external businesses and community members.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, volunteers, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, as well as collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason and solve problems.
  • Ability to develop and use spreadsheets and standard business software systems.
