The Annual Campaign Director is responsible for all fundraising activities of the Association associated with growing the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA Annual Campaign and achieving yearly campaign goals. Special emphasis is placed on developing relationships with and securing donations from major gift donors. The Annual Campaign Director will oversee the procurement of grant funding to support specific programs or initiatives to be funded through the Annual Support Campaign. He/she will work closely with the Senior Management Team, Branch Executives, and the Boards of Directors and Trustees and related committees.

  • Personally secure major gifts for the Y’s Annual Campaign. While working in a team-based environment, the Annual Campaign Director will personally identify, cultivate, and secure major gifts of $10,000 and higher.
  • Lead the implementation of the Annual Campaign fundraising components of the Y’s Real-Time Strategic Plan. Best practices will be identified and adopted leading to sound development of the Annual Campaign and achievement of annual goals.
  • Through on-going development, strengthen the fund raising skills of staff and volunteers participating in the Annual Campaign. On-going training and development programs will be developed and implemented to assure that campaigners are well prepared, confident and enthusiastic about cultivating and soliciting donor prospects.
  • Develop and maintain excellent administrative and back office systems. Excellent administrative and back office systems will be developed and implemented assuring that annual campaigns and campaigners are well supported with materials and systems. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of technology to manage data, and support and streamline fundraising campaigns.
  • Oversee the grant funding process. The Annual Campaign Director will assure that all annual campaign grant applications or proposals prepared by Y staff are comprehensive, compelling, accurate, and well written. The Annual Campaign Director will also assure that grant application and follow up report timelines are adhered to.
  • Supervise the Annual Campaign Associate. The Annual Campaign Director will supervise and develop the Annual Campaign Associate.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Management Teams. The Annual Campaign Director will serve on the Executive Management Team along with the Senior Management Team and Branch Executives.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fund development with direct fundraising experience.
  • Computer literacy with campaign and account management software systems is essential.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Certified Fund Raising Management (CFRM), or Grant Professional Certification (GPC). – All preferred
  • YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (note: candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain through YUSA).
  • Demonstrated results in personally identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts of at least $10,000.
  • Demonstrated results in the implementation of fundraising best practices including case development, donor cultivation, campaigner recruitment and development, gift solicitation, donor stewardship, and campaign evaluation.
  • Demonstrated results in using e-mail, social media, and other technologies to raise money.
  • Demonstrated results in securing government or foundation grant funding.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing, and managing excellent administrative and back-office systems and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability in achieving budget goals.
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
