The primary purpose of the Senior Director of Strategic Foundation Partnerships is to help grow and strengthen the portfolio of foundation partnerships, with a focus on working with some of Save the Children’s largest and most strategic donors.
She/he will work with the AVP of Strategic Foundation Partnerships (SFP) and existing SFP partnership managers to implement a robust relationship growth plan for strategic foundation prospects and existing donors. Provide management support to the AVP in the discharge of her responsiblities.
- Fundraising and Stewardship (50%)
- Develop strategies for seeking new or renewing private support for Save the Children’s world-wide programs. He/she will help identify high-level high potential prospects and help shape strategies for approaching these prospects and cultivating partnerships. Set revenue targets for foundations solicitations and track progress of solicitations. This dynamic process will be informed by prospecting research, due diligence, team brainstorms, senior management and board contributions.
- Internal strategy sessions with the respective partnership managers, business team leader(s), and other stakeholders to create relationship growth plans for identified foundation targets.
- Manage high level foundation donor relationships. Aim to raise level of donor giving over time.
- Direct large scale proposal development for the Save the Children movement.
- Directly contribute to the team and department’s revenue goal, which will reflect both an increase in revenue across existing foundation partners as well as independent revenue goals of $3-5+ million annually.
- External communication - Communicate with and visit foundation program officers on Save the Children’s behalf to present the case for support and match agency priorities with foundation funding priorities and guidelines. (15%)
- Act as Deputy to the AVP - Participate in SFP strategy development and help prioritize key deliverables for the team; help articulate annual goals for the team—particularly around global foundation partners and account management; identify areas for improvement in team’s systems and work with the team to improve them; represent the AVP at internal and external meetings as needed (10%)
- Manage a Team - Lead, mentor and develop a team of foundation fundraisers, to manage committed grants and/or grow new business revenue streams. Work collaboratively across departments and within the team to ensure all donor expectations for accounts under her/his watch are fully satisfied. (20%)
- Cross Divisional, Cross Agency Efforts – Represent SFP by working across departments and divisions on strategic efforts that benefit the department and the Agency (5%)
