Position Title: ReStore ManagerReports To: Director of OperationsEmployee Class: Full-time, exemptSouth Shore Habitat for Humanity (SSHH) is faith-based, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. SSHH serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. SSHH involves volunteers at all levels of governance and operations. The breadth of its program and operations make it a significant construction company, a social service agency, a volunteer management company and a mortgage company. South Shore Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and is located at 20 Mathewson Drive, Weymouth, MA 02189.
Position SummaryThe ReStore Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the ReStore operation, with the purpose of maximizing profits to support South Shore Habitat in delivering on its mission. The ReStore Manager will be responsible for the overall business performance of the store and will work closely with the affiliate’s staff to coordinate efforts and advocate for affordable housing. The ultimate goal is to drive donations and sales to generate a profit to further the affiliate’s mission and promote SSHH and the ReStore. The ReStore Manager will report to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities:
Administrative
  • Select, hire, train, manage & retain ReStore staff. This includes establishing annual goals for staff, monitoring performance, and ensuring that workplace guidelines and procedures are enforced.
  • Foster a consistent, safe and positive environment that provides a high quality donor and customer experience.
  • In coordination with affiliate staff, market and advertise the ReStore to grow revenue, secure donations and raise awareness.
  • Prepare and adhere to annual budget, oversee monthly financial reports, develop and maintain sound financial practices, and maintain accurate financial projections.
  • Reconcile daily sales to daily closing out of all financial transactions and respond to audits.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for all store operations including daily routines for opening and closing.
ReStore Operation Management
  • Oversee the retail environment and ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained, safe and used efficiently.
  • Ensure a high quality store environment, with effective branding, layout and space utilization. This includes effective merchandising of the floor and maximizing available display space.
  • Develop, communicate and implement disciplined pricing and return policies. This includes reviewing and adjusting pricing policies as necessary for changing market conditions.
  • Implement effective inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise. This includes making operational decision based metrics such as profit margins, sales per square foot, cost per donation pickup, ROI of marketing expense, expenses as percentage of sales, break-even analysis and inventory management.
Community Relations & Resource Development
  • Develop and implement plans for soliciting contributions and winning support of potential suppliers and donors by targeting growth and meeting long term financial projections.
  • Represent the ReStore operation with potential donors and solicit contributions.
  • Identify opportunities for fundraising and coordinate with the affiliate’s fundraising plan.
  • Develop and sustain a network of collaborative relationships with community based trade/business groups, faith partners, donors, and others to secure donations and raise awareness of the local affiliate’s mission in the community.
  • Represent the ReStore and the affiliate at public speaking engagements and maintain relationships with corporate donors, contractors and community service organizations.
Volunteer Management
  • Work in partnership with affiliate staff to recruit, train and engage volunteers in meaningful ways.
  • Train new volunteers to deliver high quality, consistent customer service.
  • Identify sweat equity opportunities for Family Partners.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in supervising and leading employees and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with groups, committees and individuals.
  • Experienced in public speaking.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule for evening and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills including, writing, editing, and oral.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, superior client service (internally and externally).
  • Ability to listen, engage and inspire involvement from individuals and corporations.
  • Ability to cultivate and steward corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, delegate and manage work.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
  • 5+ years in a retail operation and management, or related experience required.
  • Experience in a volunteer, non-profit organization a plus.
