Charleston Habitat for Humanity is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead our unique, inclusive, and impactful nonprofit organization, focused on creating affordable housing opportunities in the greater Charleston area. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the affiliate including home building, thrift store, fiscal management, and supervision of team members. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board Executive and the full Board of Directors.

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the affiliate including home building, thrift store, fiscal management, and supervision of team members. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board Executive and the full Board of Directors.
The primary responsibilities for the Executive Director are the following:
- Implement affiliate strategic plan for home-building, family services, fundraising, ReStore, volunteer program and community partnerships to deliver mission goals
- Maintain sound financial procedures, compliance with all commonly recognized accounting practices, and liaison with auditors on annual audit
- Partner with the Family Selection Committee to ensure partner family selection process abides with fair housing laws and Habitat selection criteria
- Oversee construction program to maintain build schedule and ensure compliance with budgetary and design criteria pertaining to the Habitat mission
- Participate in the affiliate’s community outreach and fundraising efforts including public presentations, meeting with potential funders, and relationships with city officials
- Work with third party attorneys and realtors to close on homes and find potential plots of land for home development and store expansion
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate affiliate staff on a weekly basis
- Report progress of strategic plan goals and financial documentation monthly to the Board Executive and Board of Directors
- Maintain compliance with all Habitat, State, and Federal rules and regulations to ensure good standing of the organization
- Undergraduate degree in nonprofit administration, public policy, or related field
- Five years’ minimum as organization leader with significant experience in multi-tasking diverse projects and staff supervision essential; nonprofit background preferred
- Professional experience with Habitat mission and/or affordable housing nonprofit preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office & QuickBooks Accounting essential; introductory knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus
- Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to multi-task and present mission to a wide variety of audiences
