Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a diligent professional to join our Global Volunteer Engagement & Support (GVES) team as a Sr. Compliance Specialist. Reporting to the Global Engagement Manager, the Sr. Compliance Specialist will serve as the focal point for all compliance activities related to short-term trips operating from the GVES department. The position will be responsible for coordinating and communicating all compliance expectations and requirements to the department as well as planning, implementing and conducting the US hosting programs and sending program accreditation processes.
Based in either Atlanta, Georgia or Americus, Georgia, this position will require approximately 25% travel to both domestic and international locations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Short term Trip (STT) Global Governance:
** Serve as subject matter expert on policies and guidelines to support and guide development and implementation of global short term trips; remain knowledgeable and current on HFHI requirements and guidance related to domestic and international trips
US HOSTING AND SENDING ACCREDITATION:
** Develop and monitor host site accreditation process for all US host sites.
Review and confirm sending program accreditation process to ensure all requirements are met
** Oversee the development and execution of Host Site & Team Trip Agreements
RISK MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT:
** Develop, implement and continuously improve US sending and hosting short-term trip compliance with risk management systems
** Respond to reported violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures
** Develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations
** Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, keep the department and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts
** Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations as appropriate and/or required
MONITORING VISITS and AUDITS:
** Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk
** Develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
** Monitor and, as necessary, coordinate compliance activities of other departments/divisions to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends
DEPARTMENT SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT:
** Support the overall department through full participation and engagement in departmental meetings, trainings and conferences
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
** Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
** 3 to 5 years experience in program policy, program compliance & program management
** Excellent oral and written communication skills
** Ability to interact with senior-level management
** Understanding of policy language and processes for enforcement
** Experience with conflict resolution
** Self-directed time management
** Proficient in office technology
** Demonstrated cultural competency & experience with cultural diversity
** Experience with non-profit compliance work
** Spanish language skills beneficial
