The Alzheimer's Association is looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to implement a principal and major gift program throughout the United States.
This Senior Director position will work with nationwide colleagues and leadership as well as with chapter stakeholders to engage and solicit high net worth individuals across the country. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a growing major gift revenue program with an organization that is a global leader in Alzheimer's disease. Position will report to and collaborate with the Sr. Dir., Relationship Development on all facets of strategic and major giving.
While there is some flexibility for this position to be based anywhere in the U.S., it would ideally be based in Chicago.
- Responsible for a personal portfolio with revenue and activity goals
- Provide strategic direction for three direct reports who manage a total of 15 full-time major gift officers strategically located across the country
- Manage the development and implementation major and strategic gift strategies across the country
- Set benchmarks and strategies to meet nationwide revenue and activity metrics
- Provide expert counsel in major gift and volunteer development strategies to donor advisors, Association staff, and volunteer leadership
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on progress and outcomes against goals
- Work across the Association to help build strategic gift pipeline
- Work collaboratively, strategically, and effectively with Relationship Development colleagues and peers across the Association
- Actively provide input into Relationship Development function areas - including planned giving, foundation relations, donor communications, donor stewardship, prospect management, and the ongoing research campaign
- Contribute to the nationwide Relationship Development team goals
- Embrace and live out professionalism and fundraising best practices
- 15+ years minimum required experience in major gift fundraising
- A record of significant personal achievement in major gift fundraising at the level of seven-figures and above
- Significant experience leading, managing, coaching extensive nationwide staff network to succeed and reach desired outcomes
- Successful management of a nationwide principal and major gift program
- Experience in working with high net worth volunteer leaders and demonstrated success in personal cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and closing of major gifts at the six, and seven figure levels
- A proven ability to accurately forecast and aggressively attain fundraising objectives
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write and edit with accuracy and speed
- Strong problem solving and negotiating skills
- Highly creative/innovative with abilities to persuade and motivate others
- Strong analytical skills to drive strategic development of region
- Ability to add strategic value to various donor situations
- Able to overcome barriers and challenges with positive, can-do attitude
- Superior interpersonal skills including ability to listen, observe and interact well with diverse individuals and groups. Tactful, diplomatic, and appropriately assertive

- Ability and willingness to travel as needed, including overnight travel
- Must have a valid Driver's License, proof of insurance, access to reliable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance.
- Periods of travel will be required.
