The Head of Corporate Partnerships leads our Corporate Team in its ambitious objective to become a $100M team by 2020. This strategic role will partner with leaders for the Account Management & New Business teams to set annual goals—and update strategies, activities and KPIs on a quarterly basis to address growth opportunities and risks. This role requires experience in vision and goal setting—as well as experience in driving team initiatives that align with trends in corporate strategy, experiential brand marketing, volunteerism and social innovation.   At the Associate Vice President level, the role will oversee the team’s annual budgeting process, monitor and report on team progress toward revenue goals, and will help resolve key growth barriers that may affect team performance. The Head of Corporate Partnerships will advance innovation and forward-thinking across the team, with a strong emphasis on external trends and networking as exemplified through their role leading the Corporate Council and presenting Save the Children as a leader in the sector through external panels and publications.

A member of the Resource Development (RD) Senior Management Team, the Head of Corporate Partnerships will be instrumental at contributing to division-wide efforts that advance Save the Children’s positioning and fundraising efforts, even though such initiatives may not always directly contribute to its own business team results. Examples may include Big Bets, social enterprise capacity building and more.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead strategic planning and growth strategy for corporate engagement with an aim to generate $100 million annually for Save the Children –As department lead, the Head of Corporate Partnerships will drive annual strategy, establish key metrics, and inspire the team to effectively and creatively reach increasingly higher targets to help advance Save the Children’s global mission. Strategy plans will include the development of new offerings and engagement mechanisms to grow commitment and satisfaction among existing relationships and attract new partners. Current engagement models include traditional grants and financial contributions; market-driven partnerships through shared value, co-creation and social enterprise; employee engagement and skills-based volunteer programs; gift-in-kind initiatives, consumer-facing promotions; and advocacy initiatives where we jointly raise our voice with policy makers. This role will provide visionary leadership to continuously challenge the status quo to ensure the team remains ahead of the curve when it comes to corporate engagement (40%).
  • Team Management – Lead, mentor and develop a team of over 30 corporate account and new business managers to manage committed grants and/or grow new business revenue.  Support team efforts, participating in senior-level donor meetings to elevate discussions and demonstrate high level support. Embed a customer-centric mindset across pitches, concept notes and proposals, highlighting Save the Children’s strengths and thematic excellence within the sector. Ensure that strategic dialogue and pitches to the corporate sector reflect shared value and other market-driven approaches, collaborating with Save the Children technical advisors at regional and local levels. Promote collaboration across the agency, particularly with Marketing, Program and Policy teams, as well as peers across the movement (40%).
  • Corporate Council – Work closely with the Corporate Council Chair and Council Vice Chair to create the annual Council remit and Action Team agenda based on internal growth opportunities and challenges, external corporate partnership trends and Council interest areas. Serve as liaison with Council Members to ensure full engagement and satisfaction with their respective Council roles, and provide senior advisory on Council Action Teams or Agency strategy initiatives, as assigned. Work closely with senior team members and administrative staff in facilitating the annual meeting and Office of the President engagement with the Council (15%).
  • External Visibility – Identify and secure opportunities to build Save the Children’s visibility with the corporate sector, securing speaking engagements, social media posts, and publications that recognize Save the Children’s leadership position well ahead of most of our peers (5%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 15-20 years' experience in area of expertise
  • Expert level technical and/or managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to lead a department or region, or to provide the technical advice, guidance and direction related to large programs
  • Proven successful experience of soliciting, managing or securing corporate donations in fundraising, ideally with an international organization.
  • A thorough understanding of the essential components of corporate fundraising strategies and proven experience of strategy implementation on an international scale.
  • Experience in developing briefings, presentations, and customized collateral for prospect partners and in researching opportunities and creating and managing strategies for prospect cultivation and stewardship.
  • Ability to review current programs and strategize about how to enhance those programs or develop new programs to meet current needs, based on funding opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience building a corporate sponsorship program.
  • Articulate and comfortable presenting to C-level business representatives.
  • Self-motived with ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization
