The Spring Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Fellow will split their time between providing technical support and input to the MERL work of the Department of Global Health (DGH) and providing organizational and coordination support to DGH’s MERL Technical Team.
The Spring Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Intern will split his/her/their time between providing technical support and input to the MERL work of the Department of Global Health (DGH) and providing organizational and coordination support to DGH’s MERL Technical Team. This work will include: providing support with various MERL-related tasks across several global health projects, in addition to providing organizational and coordination support for DGH MERL Technical Team. Examples of tasks include providing support for routine reporting, data analysis, documentation, and data visualization work; supporting the development and implementation of country offices’ MEL tools and plans; conducting desk and literature reviews; and supporting the design, implementation, and analysis for research and evaluation activities.
Department of Global Health MERL Program Support:
- Assist with routine data reporting, data analysis (qualitative and quantitative), documentation, and data visualization work
- Assist with development and implementation of country program M&E tools and plans
- Conduct desk and literature reviews for reports or manuscripts
- Technical inputs to the design, implementation, data analysis for research and evaluation activities
MERL Technical Team Support:
- Liaise with DGH MERL staff to identify key MERL-related tools, resources, and other documents and coordinate their housing on the SaveNet MERL SharePoint site
- Support the development of MERL-related guidance for project start-up and closeout procedures
- Strong background in research, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in health and/or nutrition programs implemented in low and middle-income country settings.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis and presentation, and development and communication of results.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member with a diversity of staff at headquarters and country field offices
- Computer literacy in word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, database, and analytical software packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA).
- Demonstrated organization and task completion skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a timely and comprehensive manner.
- Possess strong written skills and solid interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international organizations working in maternal, newborn, and child health and/or sexual and reproductive health
- Familiarity with French and/or Spanish a plus
