The Longest Day Coordinator will play a key leadership role in achieving budgetary and strategic goals as part of the Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter’s strategic plan. As a member of the development team, he/she is responsible for the significant growth and development of the Chapter’s second signature event, The Longest Day. This position will manage development and execution of Chapter-wide The Longest Day recruitment and retention efforts, income performance targets, and mobilization of a volunteer committee.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Actively recruits volunteers to serve on The Longest Day volunteer committee
- Engages, trains and manages relationships with community.
- Responsible for completing activities and meeting target deadlines for successful Longest Day event execution
- Ensures ongoing mission education for volunteer committee members and support for Alaska.
- Implements best practices for leadership development, increased participation and event revenue growth; drives and encourages creativity and innovation at the community/chapter level
- Ensures inclusion of The Longest Day within all Chapter promotional/communications channels.
- Regularly attends and presents at community and networking events to establish presence in community.

- As a member of the Development Team, provide assistance and collaborative support for Walk to End Alzheimer’s during Walk season, and respond to public policy calls to action & participate in advocacy days
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 3-years’ experience in developing and executing holistic event strategies
- Minimum 3-years’ experience with volunteer development and management, public relations, donor cultivation and relations, corporate sponsor cultivation and relations, and event management
- Demonstrated expertise recruiting and managing volunteers preferred
- Demonstrated skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail and work under timelines.
- Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines with strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to make frequent trips within Chapter territory; ability to operate a motor vehicle; must possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Effective Public Speaker
