The Walk Coordinator identifies, cultivates, & manages volunteer relationships within the community that directly increase resources for the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association through the signature event of the Alzheimer’s Association’s, Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Measurable outcomes of this position are achieving designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation and community partnerships as well as increasing Walk-brand visibility in the community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop community contacts to recruit high level volunteer leadership and volunteers on the Walk to End Alzheimer’s (WTEA) planning committee and garner community support
  • Identify, develop, and supervise Walk volunteer committees and sub-committees for recruitment, training and development on the National WTEA timeline and utilizing best practices, resulting in the attainment of income goal and team goals.
  • Through volunteer networks, prospect, cultivate and steward WTEA teams, sponsors and walkers to achieve the Chapter’s development goals.
  • Coach volunteer planning committee to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission and services, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with key corporate sponsors and high-level contacts year-round and insure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities.
  • Develop, cultivate, and leverage effective community partnerships in support of the Alzheimer's Association’s mission across territory
  • Assist in execution with overall plan for other events including but not limited to, Chapter Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Longest Day, Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and other Third-Party Events.
  • Ensure timely and efficient data entry process and donation processing related to Walk or other events when applicable. (This includes managing any Walk websites in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, and all related setup, reports, and information, when applicable.)
  • Process daily mail including coding checks, prepare batch reports, process cash deposits and other related funds that come into the Little Rock office for events, general donations, etc. Daily bank, Fed-Ex, and UPS runs.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide polite customer service, while directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Responsible for copying, acknowledgement, logging and mailing of deposits to our donation processing vendor or National office for all events, general donations, memorials, grants, etc.
  • Coordinate Chapter acknowledgement process for gifts received at the chapter including tribute/memorial donations.
  • Process monthly reconciliation of vendor deposit reports, work with Donor Services to solve any discrepancies and file with Chapter Development lead.
  • Represent Chapter at public events, conferences and media events as assigned.
  • Participate in all staff, team, committee and other internal and external meetings as requested.
  • Contribute to creating a work environment that supports teamwork, collaboration and cooperation between volunteers, staff and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Positively contribute to the morale of the staff.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 1-3 years work experience in a nonprofit setting
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 1-2 years coordinating fundraising events and/or initiatives
  • Understanding of development and advancement preferred
  • Professional experience in a nonprofit fundraising setting preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred
