The Development Manager, Global Priorities will focus on supporting the fundraising capacity and effectiveness of the Global Development team through tracking of both donor activity and projected giving and realized giving. S/he will support the execution of key conservation goals and organizational pipeline building projects for global priority donor prospects (individual and foundation) managed in all markets, coordinating activity between field staff and the Global Development team. The Manager will coordinate with research, assist with gift processing, lead on prospect tracking, and coordinate with stewardship.
The Development Manager, Global Priorities will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Global Development Team by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. They will interpret guidelines and analyze factual information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems. They will help create standardized reports to reflect movement and progress for Global Priorities prospects, while conveying Conservation Leadership engagement needs in the donor cultivation process. They will play a key role in coordinating information and activity amongst colleagues on the Planning and Operations team and throughout the World Office Development Division and the OUs managing global priority prospects. The Manager works closely with the other members of the Planning and Ops team, the Global Development Team Fundraisers, the Prospect Research team, events team, and state, division, and regional staff to accomplish goals. Working with the Deputy Director of Principal Gifts, and other stakeholders, the Manager ensures tracking and data entry around cultivation, solicitation, and follow-up activities for global priority prospects, helping to ensure coordination. They may also oversee organization and maintenance of fundraising files, help with retreats/events, as well as support and coordinate with other tracking functions of the Global Development team. Along with the Philanthropy Systems Specialist, they will act as a key resource to the field on gift coding questions, and liaison with appropriate finance staff as needed for both reporting and forecasting. The Manager serves as a central data management resource for a widely dispersed team that secures private support from the organization’s global priority prospects, and will also serve as a gift coding and finance liaison for the Global Development Team.
The Development Manager must have advanced knowledge of the systems and resources utilized by the team in order to provide programmatic support and coordinate communications related to the resources. They will have substantial contact with stakeholders and may serve as the lead liaison with partners. They take on additional duties to enhance the work of the team, such duties may include, but are not limited to, a more significant role in training, developing documentation, and/or enhancing the systems and tools used by the team. The Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. They will adapt processes and implement recommended practices in order to improve effectiveness based on their in-depth understanding of related policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

- Does not supervise any staff but may manage work of peers on departmental project teams.
- Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
- Financial responsibility includes working within a budget, processing invoices and transfers, and negotiating and contracting with vendors.
- If required to provide centralized support to chapters or programs, will work with a minimum of four chapters or programs.
- Manage an account or client relationship.
- Manage projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability.
- May provide oversight for a key function of the team.
- Provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs.
