The Direct Response Specialist, implements and coordinates all direct response fundraising activities utilizing direct response giving vehicles (mail and online) to enable AARP Foundation to support its charitable programs throughout the country. Coordinates with AARP Foundation stakeholders to fully integrate and maximize fundraising throughout the organization.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinates direct response plans and strategy implementation for the AARP’s AARP Foundation Charitable program to secure financial gifts, and to ensure financial and dashboard goals are met.
- Coordinates day-to-day relationships with external vendors to implement multi-channel direct response marketing programs relative to creative development, print production, data needs.
- Coordinates adherence to full direct response campaign production schedules: coordinates production calls and meetings that include both internal and external partners and implement copy and design for test packages.
- Coordinates with internal partners to set up and implement back-end processing (coding, caging and cashiering, fulfillment) relative to direct mail.
- Ensures brand and mandatory and overall messaging are correct in all new and repeat artwork.
- Coordinates management approvals with multiple vendors.
- Process program reporting documentation.
- Proofread art pdfs and review sign-offs for mail pieces
- Crosstrain new team members on all aspects of the production implementation process.
- Collaborates with internal partners throughout the organization to ensure coordinated efforts campaigns are executed for the benefit of donor preference including but not limited to data requests, calendaring, Foundation marketing/communications, and Foundation resources.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and follow ethical standards for charitable giving as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.
Educational Background:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years related experience in direct response fundraising (mail and/or Internet); or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
Skills/Experience:
- Proven track record in managing and implementing large, complex direct mail, Internet, and/or phone-based programs to support advocacy programs.
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Experience reviewing/writing fundraising copy and working with vendors to produce fundraising materials.
- Experience with computer, database, and spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with vendors, internal customers, and the general public. Experience in working in a large complex environment.
