The Senior Associate will ensure that the department of Patient Access captures and disseminates high-quality Salesforce data throughout the organization. The department is dedicated to improving the quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families through many different kinds of nationally and locally delivered information, education, and support. The person in this position will play a key role in improving and maintaining high-quality data capture, which will enable department staff to improve delivery of services to patients and their families and to communicate the value and impact of the department’s work.
The individual in this Senior Associate, Data Management role will be responsible for three aspects of data management, as it pertains to the Patient Access Salesforce platform. These are: 1) Coordination of both manual data entry and uploading of data from external systems, on an ongoing, timely basis, 2) Planning and executing data quality review and cleanup, including data quality measurement over time, as well as adherence to protocols, and assessing strategies for improvement, and 3) Assisting in data reporting. The Senior Associate will report to and work closely with the Senior Director of Analytics and Quality Improvement. In addition, he or she will work closely with the Director, Data Quality Improvement and Training to share valuable insights on patterns of poor data quality for quality improvement feedback to users and training purposes.Reports To: Senior Director, Analytics and Quality Improvement
- Coordinate with Patient Access staff on timelines for data entry and cleanup, including data generated by Salesforce users in various roles across the department, both nationally and in the field throughout the country.
- Provide feedback on data entry protocols; monitor data to ensure protocols are followed and data are being entered as expected, and communicate training issues to Director, Data Quality Improvement and Training.
- Work with Director, Data Quality Improvement and Training on communications to Patient Access staff regarding data related processes and changes.
- Document data quality review plans, including key data quality indicators to measure over time; review data to determine sources of poor quality and provide feedback on strategies for improvement.
- Partner with LLS’ Information Technology (IT) department on integrating external data into Salesforce; provide feedback on data mapping specifications; review external data prior to upload for accuracy; assist IT in review of data in Salesforce test environments after upload to ensure Business requirements were met.
- Aid in developing and maintaining standard reports and dashboards used across all of Patient Access to allow Salesforce users to extract data and track key metrics, such as number of patients reached in a given locale, on their own; validate the data used in reporting.
- Assist in extracting and compiling additional data reports when it is not feasible for staff to generate them on their own, or where the report requestor does not have Salesforce access.
- Perform data cleaning operations; facilitate large scale data cleanup efforts, leveraging other resources as appropriate.
- Maintain an excellent knowledge of the LLS mission, programs, and how Patient Access staff work to understand the context for the data that are captured and utilized.
- Partner with IT to facilitate improvements to the Salesforce Patient Access database.
- Work with external vendors as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience with large scale data review and cleanup, including reconciling data from various sources.
- Experience developing data capture procedures to minimize data errors.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency with SQL Server, SAS, or other data analysis tools required.
- Knowledge of Salesforce or other Constituent Relationship Management Systems preferred.
- Strong priority-setting and project management skills.
- Superior judgment in determining resolutions to challenging data issues.
- Demonstrated ability to detect patterns in data.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent ability to multi-task and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a wide variety of disciplines, e.g., IT, volunteers and staff.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
