Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest is a local, private non-profit organization affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, an organization with more than 110 years of service to children facing adversity. Founded in 2002, it serves as one of the Portland-Vancouver region’s largest youth mentoring organizations by matching children with a volunteer Big Brother or Sister, creating life-changing bonds. The BBBS program is recognized by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services as an evidence-based intervention for at-risk youth. The organization’s primary objective is to help children develop the Life Skills they need to graduate high school, prepared for college or a career.
The Individual Giving Manager is a key member of the team that is raising philanthropic funds for the organization and reports to the Chief Development Officer. The position is responsible for planning, implementing and managing a comprehensive annual and monthly giving program that focuses on retaining and increasing the number of individual donors.
Essential duties and key responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving program.
- Develop a new monthly giving program that expands on current program and incorporates an engagement platform.
- Develop a cultivation and solicitation calendar as part of the annual plan.
- Make and implement decisions about portfolio assignments, solicitation methods and donor segmentation.
- Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual prospects and donors.
- Identify and manage communications with donors participating in signature peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and events.
- Manage the end-of-the-year direct mail appeal.
- Develop additional appeals and campaigns to meet annual revenue goals.
- Coordinate and deliver donor-centered communications for appeals and campaigns.
- Assist with developing and writing grants and proposals.
- Provide assistance with the implementation of smaller stewardship events and board fundraising dinners for current and prospective individual donors.
- Maintain records of donor contacts and moves in Raiser’s Edge database.
- Utilize social media and digital marketing platforms to solicit and engage donors.
- Work with staff to identify programmatic opportunities for donor engagement.
- Work in collaboration with the CDO and CEO on their top-level cultivation and stewardship activities.
- Conduct yearly review and assessment of giving programs and donor cultivation efforts, making adjustments as necessary.
- Strong passion and articulated belief in the mission of BBBS.
- Strives for excellence and continuous improvement.
- Must pass a background check.
- Provide own vehicle with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Proven track record in fund development or appropriate transferable responsibilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, emphasizing the ability to listen and hear others.
- Ability to work in a small team environment.
- Ability to work with board members and donors in a professional and positive way.
- Experience with fundraising databases, Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce preferred.
- Experience working with social media and digital fundraising or marketing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
