Administrator, Preceptorship and Reentry Programs

Summary:  This Administrator will be responsible for administering new preceptorship and reentry programs, from the developmental and pilot testing stages to full implementation and evaluation. Activities include working with the senior manager and surgeon volunteers to identify purpose(s) and standards for the programs; complete pilot testing; establish the needed structures, processes and systems; address legal concerns of preceptors, their institutions, and states; refine the model; help prepare both teachers and learners regarding expectations, disseminate the final model nationally; address questions regarding documentation of the experiences; and assess program effectiveness. Similar processes will be followed for initiatives in three separate areas, including preceptorships, reentry programs, and coaching programs. This Exempt Level position will report to the Manager, Preceptorship, Coaching and Retooling in the Division of Education.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare for conference calls and meetings of surgeon groups by researching relevant topics such as other similar existing programs and organizational efforts; liability and insurance considerations across states; and examples, forms, and resources that may help advance discussions.  
  • Develop resources based on surgeon group dialogues; for example, lists of program standards, complex application requirements and forms, or location and compilation of requested but not easily obtained data and information.  
  • Once established, administer the processes of communication with sites, preceptors and their institutions, preceptees and their institutions, monitor progress and submission of appropriate documentation and reports; and maintain or destroy documents as established for the program.  
  • Administer various activities as appropriate for the program, such as promotional efforts, site visitor cadres and training, and preparations for committee meetings and conference calls.  
  •  Perform other duties as assigned. 
Skills/Experience: 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English or a related field is required.  
  • Familiarity with legal considerations, such as peer review and patient privacy issues would be a plus.  
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role or related field required.   
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.   
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.  
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat is required.   
  • Strong Internet research skills are needed.  
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.  
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.  
  • Experience in Associations, professional services, healthcare, and/or education desired.

Fiscal Management: This position is required to provide staff support to the supervisor in the development of the unit’s annual budget, program or project budget.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer. 

Other Necessary Requirements: Moderate evening or weekend duties required. Moderate travel for activities such as out of town meetings is required. ​
