We have an excellent opportunity for an Associate Director in our Houston office. The selected candidate will have fundraising responsibilities for the Shop With Heart Card program which provides an opportunity for individuals to give to the AHA by purchasing a discount card and receiving a 20% discount at over 500 participating retailers during a 10-day shopping period. The net fundraising goal for this position is $250,000. Last year the campaign raised $180,000. If you have a strong fundraising or sales background OR if you have an event coordination background coupled with sales or fundraising we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

  • Revenue generation and volunteer management and sponsorships.
  • Mobilizing volunteers in the Houston Metro area to support and raise funds for the Shop With Heart Card campaign.
  • Conducting sales calls to generate new business and manage existing corporate sponsors.
  • Expanding our reach into the philanthropic community of individuals participating in our Guild of Houston to raise funds and awareness.
  • Developing and monitoring an annual working plan with dollar and volunteer recruitment goals, budget and timelines for the events. Develop contingency plans as needed to successfully meet fundraising goals.
  • Leading cultivation opportunities to strengthen relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders to advance our mission.
  • Ensure that event management and logistics for the Shop With Heart Card kickoff events are completed.
  • Data entry and tracking philanthropic giving and individual card sales.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years’ experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
  • 1+ years’ of experience in a similar role. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
  • Able to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of meeting management.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communications skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs; to work independently and take initiative; to creatively and effectively solve problems; to meet and interact with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, required knowledge of Greater Giving or similar donor database programs.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary.
  • Candidates must be results driven with the ability to multi task, and must also be willing and able to travel (no overnight) within Houston up to approximately 75% of the time.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
