The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Director, Talent Acquisition & Succession Planning in our SouthWest Affiliate office in Houston or Dallas, Texas.
Our Talent Acquisition function cultivates strategic relationships in all markets (AR, CO, NM, OK, TX, WY), monitors market trends and data to effectively project candidate sources, and influences hiring decisions that include diversity mirroring the communities we serve. In this role, you are a key team member in the SouthWest Affiliate Human Resources team and will be accountable for leading a passionate team of recruiters in partnering with leaders across the affiliate to identify and meet coaching and training needs, influence and deliver effective onboarding resulting in increased retention, and facilitate appropriate placement of talent in the right jobs which includes identifying, sourcing, developing and supporting the leaders of the future.
Here are some of the essential job duties:
- Manages recruiters to recruit full-time, part-time, temporary, contractual and intern personnel. Manage full life cycle recruitment (post, source, prescreen, schedule, background, references, offer, onboarding, etc.). Complete hiring process within defined metrics to minimize overall time-to-start. Develop appropriate marketing strategies, define roles and responsibilities of hiring team, and develop service-level agreements to ensure an effective and efficient recruitment lifecycle while minimizing cost-per-hire.
- Fills senior-level Sales positions in the non-profit high level fundraising fields.
- Regularly respond to ad hoc requests associated with internal staff moves and employee relations issues via quick review of available information, providing data based recommendations.
- Develops and refines new strategies and programs to attract candidates.
- Works closely with talent acquisition staff in other regions to share best practices, provide assistance on critical needs and coordinate on national-level initiatives.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to collect and coordinate aggregate data for talent pool and translate those data into insights through data analysis that drives deliberate action plans at the appropriate levels.
- Develop and implement creative and innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to build a pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Ensure that affiliate-wide talent succession management initiatives are focused and aligned on improving operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Develop, initiate and maintain effective programs for workforce retention, promotion and succession planning.
- Collect, analyze and maintain data gathered to inform targeted leadership development (e.g., succession planning).
- Serve as a business partner with hiring managers to develop effective sourcing and recruitment strategies that result in client satisfaction. Develop effective relationships within the organization and the hiring community to have influence and impact the recruiting process and hiring.

Required Experience

- 10+ years of broad HR experience focused on talent acquisition and recruitment.
- Recent experience in recruiting in Sales professionals, from entry level to experienced, including hiring for nonexempt, exempt and leadership positions.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred.
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, a plus.
- Experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover coaching succession planning, data analytics and strategic recruitment.
- Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports.
- Experience in all areas of sourcing such as the internet, social media, networking, employee referrals, job postings, as well as conducting open houses and virtual job fairs.
- Experience in working with applicant tracking systems and affirmative action plan requirements.
- Ability to travel within the assigned markets up to 10% overnight.
