The Administrative Coordinator (AC) supports various programs in Habitat for Humanity’s administrative office to help further the mission of affordable homeownership. The AC’s focus areas will be on administrative support, volunteer coordination, homeowner support, communication and special events. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Administrative support

  • Provide professional assistance and direction to program applicants, volunteers and supporters in person and over the phone
  • Assist with administrative duties as directed; including mailings, filing, record keeping, and marketing materials
  • General accounting functions, including entering accounts receivable numbers in QuickBooks and helping with accounts payable items
  • Maintain social media accounts and update website as needed
  • Volunteer management
  • Volunteers are a crucial part of Habitat’s success, and Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County engages approximately 1,000 volunteers each year
  • Respond to all individual and group volunteer inquiries
  • Works effectively to schedule volunteers to meet the volunteer needs of construction
  • Maintain volunteer records, statistics and the volunteer database for the affiliate
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate construction volunteer programs to retain on-going volunteers
  • Oversee logistics of volunteers on site including waivers, snacks, drinks and lunch
  • Interact with volunteers on jobsite and take photographs
  • Supervise volunteers in office who assist with data entry and other tasks
  • Send thank you emails and coordinate volunteer recognition strategies

Homeowner support

  • Talk to interested applicants about the homeownership program
  • Help with application orientations and application intake
  • Track homeowner hours and communicate sweat-equity opportunities
  • Maintain homeowner manual

Other

  • Work closely with sponsors, Habitat International and other organizations on special projects and builds
  • Help plan and attend special events
  • Represent Habitat to the community through community presentations
  • Participate in professional development or training opportunities
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and as the organization grows
  • Working Conditions and Schedule:
  • This individual generally works 3-4 days per week in the Habitat administrative office, and works 1-2 days per week on the construction site with volunteers.
  • Typical work week is Monday through Friday. During active construction, some Saturdays will be required
  • The AC may be asked to attend Habitat events, community events, and meetings either off site or after hours.
  • This role involves some travel between job sites, meeting sites and the office.
  • Exposure to weather, loud noises, and various other working conditions associated with active construction sites is possible
Educational Background: 
Must have high school diploma or equivalent, although greater educational background preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • History of relationship management and/or customer service experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
  • Some accounting experience preferred
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Passion for community development and community service
  • Must demonstrate adept abilities in standard office computer applications and have the willingness and ability to learn new applications
