The purpose of the position is to support the implementation and monitoring of communal agriculture infrastructure works, within World Vision’s Livelihood program in Bekaa, with the goal to enhance the Livelihoods of Vulnerable Lebanese Host Communities and Syrian Refugees through Food Assistance for Assets funded by WFP.
Areas of Responsibility:
Ensure Design drawings and plans (25%)
- Support in the development of Bill of Quantities (BoQs) based on the technical design and drawings.
- Support in providing construction data, rates and market prices.
- Assist in the design, specifications and planning for water and wastewater treatment, infrastructure projects and building rehabilitation.
Supervise the activities Implementation (70%)
- Keep track of daily records.
- Work with the engineer to develop detailed, site-specific (Monthly) work plans to ensure adequate technical oversight of the interventions at the field-level.
- Supervise and direct the field-level infrastructure implementation.
- Follow up on the ways the samples are taken from the field.
- Make sure of the proper use of tools and equipment.
Perform other duties as required (5%)
- Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally.
- Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events.
- Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.
- Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager
Educational Background:
Intermediate school or primary technical institute formation.
Skills/Experience:
- 4 to 5 Years of experience in infrastructure and construction works.
- Detail-oriented personality
- Independent, Self-Starter and creative and able to work without supervision
- Good communication skills in Arabic (oral and written),
- Good understanding & implementation of designs, drawings, and surveying works.
- Ability to travel across the country regularly for training, assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation
- A high level of diplomacy and networking skills is required.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, emotional maturity and physical stamina.
- Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
- Ability and keep maintain performance expectations in stressful environments.
- Experience in supervising construction projects
- The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
- Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards
- Fair experience in using general building and construction tools and equipment.
- Experience in NGO works and knowledge in dealing, communicating, and supervising beneficiaries is required.
- Knowledge about needed permits and coordination for construction and public works & experience in dealing with municipalities.
- Working collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to perform basic, carpentry, welding, piping and other general construction jobs when needed.
- Ability to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
