The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Warrior Care Network® Specialist works closely with Warrior Care Network® (WCN) affiliate medical centers’ leadership, WWP leadership, and the internal WWP WCN team to provide general program oversight, support network governance, and review analytics to help drive integration and alignment within the network. The Warrior Care Network® Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for project management for the Network.

Note: Warrior Care Network® is a partnership between Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) and four national academic medical centers (AMC) of excellence. In cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), this program connects thousands of warriors with world-class care to battle the invisible wounds of war by filling gaps in government care and reaching those who may otherwise go untreated.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist the WCN leadership with continuous program management including focusing on hospital integration, risk management, schedule management for contractual deliverables, governance oversight, e.g., committee organization, facilitation, communications, and stakeholder management, and on performance management with respect to the Academic Medical Centers (AMC) contractual compliance and data analytics through third-party provider(s).
  • Build relationships with the AMCs to maintain the strategic vision of the WCN and to assist the AMCs with broad program management, including analysis of key performance metrics on a continuous basis.
  • Serve as a WWP point of contact with respect to WCN governance processes and compliance with internal project management processes and protocols for the WCN committees, including the Executive Steering Committee.
  • Serve as an analyst for overall monitoring of the Network performance management, quality and risk management, and as a point of contact for data management with third-party providers.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with WCN committee leadership to facilitate information flow among WWP and AMC leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on program management, program evaluation, and data analytics related to healthcare service delivery in a network setting.
  • Prepare briefings and reports include compiling, organizing, and updating reports regularly. Collaborate with WWP teammates, AMC leaders, and third-party providers to obtain required data.
  • Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify trends or relationships using raw data and dashboard visualizations.
  • Apply statistical approaches to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management or related mental health field
or Master’s degree in either business administration or healthcare administration, with an emphasis on healthcare operations, healthcare economics, or healthcare business analytics.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated understanding of military and veteran issues, and the emotional impact of combat, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and combat stress.
  • Demonstrated understanding of psychological and mental health issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by warriors affected by trauma.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and build effective working relationships telephonically. Demonstrated emotional intelligence. Ability to respond to sensitive matters with diplomacy and empathy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship management and partnering. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and create a diverse network of resources, built on maintaining WWP’s strong supportive presence within the community.
  • Strong working understanding of WWP programs and other resources available for families and Warriors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Effectively complete assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • High energy level. Self-starter; willing to take initiative.

  • Six years of experience working with veteran healthcare focused programming, case management, health care administration, or healthcare business analytics.
  • Six years of experience working with military or veterans’ population in support of their development and readjustment.
  • Three years of project management experience.
  • Three years of program management in design, development, and administration of healthcare programs.

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics.
  • Three years of experience in a mental health treatment setting providing diagnostic assessments, crisis screening, and psychosocial assessments.
  • Three years of experience conducting intakes with individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder or other mental health issues.
  • Two years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and combat stress.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
