The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Temporary Project Coordinator in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX.

This is a part-time temporary position that will average between 20-25 hours per week and will last until 12/15/2019.

The American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, held November 16-18, 2019, in Philadelphia, PA, presented and sponsored by the Council on Clinical Cardiology, presents a unique opportunity to introduce top minority science highs school students to the exciting world of cardiovascular research - especially those students who are considering perusing a career in the sciences. We are looking for someone with program planning, implementation and evaluation experience to help oversee this one of a kind program. The project coordinator for this Council specific program would be responsible for recruiting up to 100 minority students and one teacher and/or counselor per high school to attend a one-day program to learn about the latest in cardiovascular research. The Project Coordinator would work closely with the Program Manager in the application, program development and implementation of the council sponsored high school minority program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruit and manage volunteers, program participants, and other key stakeholders for a one-day program held during the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in November
  • Oversees reporting on desired metrics and outcomes, sharing evaluation data with appropriate key stakeholders, as well as developing and monitoring the budget.
  • Directing core team members and vendors to develop, provide input and oversight of program content, toolkits and other various related program materials.
  • Manage day-to-day program logistics.
  • Participate and present information in all program related internal and external meetings.
Educational Background: 
High School diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Must have strong project and time management skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Need a strong understanding of budget administration and forecasting
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
