General Summary
The Walk Coordinator for Walk to End Alzheimer's will assist in all aspects of Walk within the chapter (7 locations, +/- subject to changed based on area of need) and ensure that elements are completed according to Alzheimer's Association guidelines and timelines. The Walk Coordinator will work directly on all aspects of the local Walks: Arlington, Northeast Tarrant County, Fort Worth and Weatherford Walk assisting the day of event manager. Walk Coordinator will share fundraising duties in securing new sources of revenue for all events.
Essential Job Functions
Core Job Responsibilities related to Walk to End Alzheimer's: Assist in all aspects of Walk to End Alzheimer's for the North Central Texas Chapter. - Seven (7) Walk events with a combined gross revenue of approximately $1,000,000 (subject to change based on financial goals set by BOD) - Responsibilities typically would include assisting in budgeting, coordinating logistics, marketing, corporate and individual sponsorships, committee member recruitment, committee meetings, volunteer support and other logistical and fundraising responsibilities as assigned
- Manage Blackbaud/Luminate/Convio database software used to process all aspects of Walk – entering offline/online donations and sponsorship pledges. Creation and continued monitoring of each Walk website. Generating reports to Walk Manager and Directors as required. Interfacing with teams for the four local Walks, as well as assisting in Team Reporting for all Walks.
- Assist in providing customer service for all Walk constituents (by phone, email, walk-in or delegated within Development department) keeping database clean.
- Provide fundraising mentor/coaching by communicating with Walk constituents to provide information and encourage fundraising. Train constituents to use online fundraising system. Determine and carryout appropriate activities to retain past constituents and recruit new participants.
- Work with Volunteer Coordinator to enlist, communicate and train event specific volunteers.
- Perform the day-to-day administrative support that accompanies Walk events and other development activities, including compiling event and donor comparative data when needed.
- Aide in creating Walk to End Alzheimer's collateral materials and other written materials as needed, such as eNewsletter, website updates, mass email messages, marketing collateral and press releases /articles prior to event and following the event.
- Assist with all other aspects of development as determined by Director of Special Events and Marketing and Executive Director.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or minimum of 2-3 years equivalent experience specific to special event planning and implementation, primarily with Walk/Constituent fundraising events
- Computer skills preferably with knowledge of Microsoft Office, InDesign, Social
- Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
- Personable attitude is vital to this position
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, able to coordinate multiple projects and people
- Ability to work independently and interact with the public in a manner that favorably reflects on the Alzheimer's Association
- Ability to anticipate, analyze and take advantage of fundraising growth opportunities
- High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
- Professional, office appropriate dress is required
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Set up/tear down of event sites (including, but not limited to, banners, tables, etc.)
- Ability to move boxes and supplies up to 50lbs.
- Driver's license and ability to get to all job sites traveling by car within the chapter's 40 county territory and by air to attend other meetings as assigned
- Professional experience in nonprofit fundraising strongly preferred
- Related experience in managing events and volunteers a plus
- Media online fundraising databases and auction software (Greater Giving) a plus.
- High volume of public contact and networking
- May be stressful during periods of high volume and tight deadlines
