  • Implement the emergency response programme’ protection priorities within programme scope and timeframe.
  • Promote the protection of both children and adult beneficiaries’ rights through the implementation of Safeguarding policy and procedures.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strengthen Community Feedback and Complaints Mechanisms on safeguarding and raise awareness of these to community members and staff in the program.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of safeguarding policy, procedures to staff under the emergency response.
  • Provide checks and balances on all World Vision Communication products to ensure safeguarding protocols are adhered to.
  • Work with the response team to come up with reporting mechanisms on safeguarding issues.
  • Taking overall responsibility in ensuring that safeguarding principles are adhered to in all child participation activities and other response programming activities, including coming up with tools for checking adherence.
  • Manage cases of poor practice and abuse reported to the organisation or other agencies within the Chimanimani response programming – including logging cases on Ethics Point.
  • Manage referrals to children’s social-care services and the police and update reported cases on Ethics point.
  • Ensure the establishment / resourcing of already existing Child Friendly Centres.
  • Ensure Safeguarding protocols are observed by visitors to the program area including other agencies visiting the program.
  • Represent the organisation in cluster meetings and other external meetings related to safeguarding in Chimanimani.
  • Identifies child rights issues affecting children separated from parents and those in camps and advocates for a redress of these issues.
  • Play a lead role in maintaining and reviewing the organisation’s emergency implementation plan for safeguarding and protecting children and adults.
  • Prepare monthly reports for submission to the line manager and the Safeguarding Manger.
Educational Background: 
Degree in Social Sciences/Social Work with an AME qualification.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Post graduate qualification on child rights will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years hands-on experience in an integrated rural or urban development programme with special focus on child/adult Safeguarding issues.
  • A good working knowledge of children’s rights and the international conventions dealing with children’s rights and child protection rules and regulations.
  • Ability to deliver core trainings through different levels within the program including the community members
  • Clean class four driver’s license a must.
