The Development Specialist is part of a team that raises funds to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s vision, mission and programs and services. This position coordinates the logistical details of the North Dakota Walks to End Alzheimer’s® in collaboration with volunteers, as well as assists with other North Dakota fundraising initiatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
Walk to End Alzheimer’s:
- Manage volunteers to coordinate successful overall day-of logistics for the Walk to End Alzheimer's
- Support other Walk committee members and assist with volunteer recruitment and stewardship
- Provide meeting support to Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee meetings as needed
- Help create and manage training materials for volunteers; help pre-train event day-of volunteers
- Participate in Walk data reporting and queries as needed (e.g., stewardship calls)
- Provide customer service for team captains and fulfill material requests
- Assist with the cultivation, motivation, stewardship and recognition efforts of our donors and volunteers
- Travel to all Walk locations in ND to establish and cultivate strong committee relationships
General Development / Special Events:
- Assist the Senior Development Manager, ND with fundraising initiatives, events and projects as needed, including The Longest Day and Giving Hearts Day
- Represent the Association at designated benefit events
- Respond to general donor inquiries/information requests, donation calls and process donations
- Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition efforts
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 1-3 years of relevant work experience
Skills/Experience:
- Understanding of development and fundraising programs preferred
- Professional experience in a nonprofit fundraising setting preferred
- Experience working with volunteers preferred
- Willingness to work on evenings and weekends if necessary
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance
