The VP and Chief People Officer serves as a member of the Y’s leadership team and provides strategic leadership to ensure the Hockomock Area YMCA is an employer of choice.  They must have an understanding of the Y’s goals and business functions and ensure that HR strategies and practices are aligned with the goals and the objectives of the Association. This individual will provide leadership in talent recruitment, hiring, training and support of all employees, creating a culture of achievement and innovation. This individual will reflect and display the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensuring consistency in all policies and processes. They will provide guidance, counsel and expertise in areas such as Association policies, legal requirements, state and federal laws and employee relations ensuring compliance in all areas.
  • Build and lead the Y’s talent management function including recruitment and selection; staff training, mentoring and development of staff; compensation and job evaluation; benefit recommendations and administration and policy creation and administration.
  • Oversee the HRIS system, including the candidate management and onboarding process, ACA and benefits reporting, performance management, information management and other related functions.  
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the Board Human Resource Committee.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree is required with a Master’s Degree and/or additional Human Resources education or SHRM certification preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of Human Resources Management experience, with non-profit experience desirable.
  • Experience in all areas of the Human Resource function and have strong relationship building skills and the ability to deal with diverse populations successfully.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven decision making and leadership abilities
