CDDEP invites applications for a Communications Associate to support the organization’s daily communications activities and help to develop and implement long-term strategies to broaden outreach and policy impact. The Communications Associate, who will be based for an initial 6 month period in New Delhi, will relocate to Washington DC after that period. S/he will work closely with a Washington, DC and New Delhi team of researchers and collaborators to disseminate research findings to media, policymakers, and the general public through a variety of print and digital avenues.
Communications Associate responsibilities are:
External Communications and Outreach
- Drafting and disseminating digital communications, including newsletters (e.g., CDDEP Weekly Digest) and press releases
- Tracking ongoing research projects, coordinating press promotions and policy outreach as findings emerge
- Maintaining and expanding CDDEP’s social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Attending relevant hearings and press briefings and reporting on these events for the CDDEP blog
Creating and Updating Web Content
- Working with a content management system (CMS) to maintain CDDEP websites and upload new publications, presentations, and other resources
- Soliciting content, drafting and editing posts, and uploading new material to CDDEP’s blog
Maintaining Internal Communications Resources
- Sustaining and developing CDDEP contacts database, including media, policy, and research lists
- Updating internal staff resources, including public health conference calendar and web content schedule
Applicants should have 1-2 years of experience working in non-profit communications, and should be highly motivated, creative, intellectually curious, and able to work independently. Candidates should also possess the following qualities:
- Strong interest and background in global health policy – undergraduate emphasis on public policy, international relations, global health or journalism preferred
- Highly organized with superior written and oral communications skills
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and audiences
- Ability to synthesize complex scientific and economic research for a lay audience
Familiarity with website CMS, social media, and Salesforce CRM preferred
