The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Delaware, in partnership with First State National Historical Park (FRST), is a member of the Alliance for Watershed Education, (AWE), a coalition of 23 environmental education centers focused on constituency building and stewardship of the Delaware River Watershed. The Delaware River Watershed Fellow will serve as an ambassador for TNC and FRST by engaging our watershed community, inspiring watershed stewardship, helping to reach new and underserved audiences and achieve our goals of diversity equity and inclusion. By the end of the 12 weeks of service, Fellows will have become local watershed ambassadors in their community and will have introduced many new people to their local trails and waterways, as well as the steps they can take to help restore and protect the Delaware River watershed.
The Delaware River Watershed Fellow will work on the Stream Stewards project which is designed to engage volunteers in water quality monitoring and watershed stewardship, in the Beaver Valley Unit of First State National Historical Park. The Watershed Fellow will report to the Stream Stewards Project Manager, and assist with outreach in the Wilmington community, and making connections between watersheds and urban residents, especially youth. The Fellow will spend much of their time out in the field either in urban neighborhoods or in natural settings in the park, as well as time in the TNC Wilmington office.
