We are seeking a Director of Community Mobilization to be an integral part of the Volunteer Leadership Department at March of Dimes. The individual in this position will help mobilize communities and build a movement for all moms and babies. The position works collaboratively with national and market leadership as well as external stakeholders to ensure that the March of Dimes mission and mobilization strategy are realized. The position reports to the Vice President of Community Engagement and Mobilization/ Chief Volunteer Officer.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Understand how to excite, engage, and empower individuals, stakeholders, and volunteers via in-person and digital opportunities
- Develop and help facilitate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, communications, and retention strategies regarding Do-It-Yourself fundraising events and community-led walks
- Help build out the March of Dimes Volunteer Hub app content
- Support efforts to build community through new audience activation opportunities, some related to the largest MOD engagement opportunity—March for Babies
- Build supports for people to volunteer, fundraise, and advocate on behalf of our causes, including turkey products to offer corporate partners, national service partners and other stakeholders
- Partner with government affairs to implement grassroots advocacy opportunities and activate national service partners and youth to engage in critical policy change
- Research best practices on individual and community engagement and create a business case/ theory of change for the department
- Create and implement a volunteer tracking system in CRM, ensure market adoption, and integrate with other systems like the action network
- Expand relationships with National Service Partners and meet with external stakeholders to identify new partnership opportunities; in addition to other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
College degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years related experience.
- Demonstrated success in both on- and off-line audience-driven stakeholder engagement

- Critical thinker, self-starter. Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
- Team player with ability to work collaboratively and build effective working relationships with colleagues and volunteers.
- Superior oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate the need for and benefits of supporting the March of Dimes.
