The Cost and Pricing Proposal Intern will work with a dynamic team of financial analysts and managers to support the preparation, review, and submission of cost proposals in response to government and commercial solicitations for contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements. The intern will support analysts who work with units throughout the organization -technical, contractual, business development, financial, HR, and administrative – to develop proposal and application budgets and narratives. The intern will have opportunities to engage in a professional environment, develop financial and technical skills, enhance soft skills, and have exposure to various scientific domains and service delivery programs.
Under close supervision, an intern will perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty, which will provide the intern with the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the company. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to the company’s organizational structure. Utilizes current company-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Note: Specific activities vary by assignment. A wide range of college majors are considered based on specific needs of department such as: Finance, Business Administration, Public Health, Economics, Public Administration, Community Development, Communications, International Affairs, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Resources.

- Assist analysts with the development of compliant proposal budgets, budget narratives and supporting documentation.
- Review proposal budgets for subawardees.
- Perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty.
- Gather and organize data to provide information for departmental special projects or reports.
- Shadow senior level analysts on proposals.
- Work with analysts to obtain necessary information to prepare cost proposals.
- Generate, analyze, and maintain records and other reference material necessary for departmental use.
- Respond to cost proposal related questions.
- Perform administrative duties as necessary.
- Conduct research in conjunction with proposals, analyze data and make recommendations based on findings.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Demonstrates basic understanding of the area of specialization, of program procedures, methods, and practices to include knowledge of program and staff responsibilities.
- Uses established filing and data systems, functions, and/or procedures that require knowledge of the program.
- Reviews data and information for completeness and accuracy using standard guidelines; performs tasks with attention to detail.
- Understands software used to perform day-to-day functions.
- Uses basic office software programs, information systems, and office equipment to access, input, and verify standard information.
- Communicates information clearly to staff, clients, and/or public about services, processes, and procedures using prescribed or established guidelines.
- Utilizes program specific terminology.
- Gathers readily available information from office records to drafts e-mails, memos and other documents.
- Proofreads documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic formatting.
- Provides answers to requests for general information.
- Records and documents information accurately.

- Typically requires 0-2 years of college experience in a related field of study.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Ability to speak a foreign language is a plus.
- Prior work experience in a non- governmental organization (NGO).
