We have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or equivalent to join our dynamic leadership team as Vice-President of Counseling and Social Services.  Here at The Community YMCA, we are a cause-driven organization, committed to strengthening our local communities in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The Community Y transforms lives through counseling programs and services to children and adults in schools, homes and the community throughout Monmouth County and including parts of Middlesex and Ocean counties.

Under the direction of the COO, the Vice-President will manage the operations of Counseling and Social Services in accordance with the policies and practices of The Community YMCA. Counseling and Social Services (CSS) includes: social work programs, clinical counseling, and alcohol and drug counseling.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Grant Management and Development

  • Ensures that services are delivered at contracted levels and in compliance with standards for all state, county, municipal and private funding.
  • Monitors available grant money and determines whether funds are in-line with the mission of The Community YMCA and are appropriate for the scope of Counseling and Social Services.
  • Formulates process and coordinates grant development and submission with the CDO and COO. Ensures all reporting requests are met. 

Staff Development

  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources on implementation of personnel policies.
  • Through a hierarchical supervisory process the Vice-President ensures the successful performance of approximately 150 employees.
  • Maintains compliance of licensure status of all licensed staff and that all staff are performing at expected levels within an environment that encourages professional growth and positive morale.
  • Ensures that all staff participate in the goal setting and performance review process.  

Financial Management/Development

  • Oversees that the branch budget is prepared and managed in a timely and professional manner.
  • In collaboration with the Finance Department, monitors financial control to ensure that the annual audit reflects accounting practices within NJ State parameters.
  • In conjunction with the CDO, develops goals and leads a successful annual fundraising campaign.
  • Assists the President & CEO and CDO in endowment efforts as requested.

Program Development

  • Fosters innovation and identifies growth opportunities 
  • Monitors the operation of all branch programs for optimum performance. 
  • Evaluates the Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) process, the practices of each program, and implements change necessary to reflect an evolving service environment.
  • Reviews the staffing patterns of each program to ensure quality, revenue generation and staff retention patterns. 
  • Coordinates with the Marketing department on innovative promotional opportunities and communication of programs and services.

Volunteer Development

  • Works in collaboration with the CEO and CDO to maintain and develop volunteer relationships and grow philanthropic foundation. 
  • Participates on and actively recruits new committee members as assigned. 

Facility/Vehicle/Computer Maintenance

  • Works with the CFO to ensure all facilities within CSS are maintained. This includes meeting standards as prescribed by the Office of Licensing where applicable. 
  • Ensures that staff maintains vehicles utilized in their programs in prescribed intervals and that they are clean and safe. 
  • Audits and ensures compliance and confidentiality of mental health records and systems

Community Outreach

  • Represents The Community YMCA, Counseling and Social Services at key community meetings including but not limited to the Children’s Inter-agency Coordinating Council (CIACC), Monmouth-Ocean Provider Council, Monmouth County Professional Advisory Committee (PAC), Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC).
Educational Background: 
The position requires a Master’s Degree in social work and an LCSW or eqivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The incumbent must possess 5 years minimum/8 years preferred post-master experience providing clinical supervision, program development, program management, community partnerships, and fiscal management.
  • Five year minimum experience in a senior leadership role. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of innovative and visionary leadership. 
  • Ability to articulate impact and value of programs and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in relating with staff, volunteers and the community at large.
  • Has proven experience in clinical treatment modalities including individual, group and family therapy.  The Vice-President must supervise the Director of Outpatient Services and the Director of DCPP Services utilizing this understanding.
  • Must be attuned to the changing needs of the community while being flexible and innovative in response to those evolving priorities.
  • High level fiscal and grant management skills are required to maintain sound financial practices.  
  • Exceptional relationship building skills that result in successful strategic partnerships.
  • Motivated and skilled in fundraising practices with ability to guide staff and volunteers in ongoing fundraisings activities.
  • Demonstrates a high level of cultural competence, sensitivity and responsiveness.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and valid NJ Motor Vehicle Insurance.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00
