Reporting to the Director, Corporate Initiatives & Foundation Relations, the Grants Manager is a key member of the Development team, and is primarily responsible for revenue generation through effective development and management of sustainable relationships with funders and foundation partners. The Grants Manager secures gifts and grants in support of events, programs, and organizational priorities. The responsibilities of the Grants Program Manager include; foundation grant proposals, stewarding and managing relationships, researching potential funding sources, developing funding concept ideas. Other writing responsibilities include assisting the Development Department with reporting, corporate proposals, sections of the Year in Review, event collateral, proof reading, etc. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage relationships with foundations, including:
    • Identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding funders and potential funders resulting in annual contribution grants
    • Driving the grant process through work with key stakeholders
    • Researching and creating a pipeline for sustainable funding
    • Writing and submitting grant proposals, working closely with input from program staff colleagues
    • Maintaining electronic records on foundation proposals: tracking metrics, writing and submitting all reports as required by funders
    • Planning and leading meetings to cultivate funders as well as to host site visits meetings with relevant staff
    • Crafting progress reports with the Major Gift team 
    • Researching potential funding sources using online and other resources
  • Collaborate with the National Alzheimer’s Association on shared fundraising efforts and comply with Association policies, procedures and standards 
  • Tell Alzheimer Association’s story and mission to make it relevant to a diverse community of donors and partners in a number of communication vehicles, including but not limited to:
    • Year in Review
    • Invitations and Program Books
    • Donor and Corporate Letters
    • Corporate Proposals
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in fundraising
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five years’ related experience, with proven success in fundraising, foundations relations and/or grant writing 
  • Strong writing and proof reading skills
  • Three years’ demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including fundraising software, preferably Raiser’s Edge, and donor database applications
