To provide guidance and technical support in corporate accounting unit and ensure adequate financial accountability and stewardship

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide guidance in ensuring the work of General Account, Disbursement, asset management and Payroll Units in conformity with partnership Financial Manual and internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and consolidate monthly program /projects funding request and provide advice on budgetary control and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and submit into FFR database periodic project reports including fixed assets reconciliation, bank reconciliation and core reports.
  • Coordinate budget development and PBAS management in line with the corporate strategy and support offices.
  • Ensuring financial reports are prepared, reviewed, submitted and backups sent to zones, regional office and Global centre on monthly basis.
  • Analyze and produce quarterly Aging analysis report and ensure the balance sheet accounts is well maintained.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to NO, personnel in the area of Sun6, OLAP, Provision, GEMS, LEAP Finance and Voucher Interface and participate in non-financial managers’ capacity building training.
  • Facilitate and ensure internal, statutory and Global Centre (GC) audits and timely implementation.
  • Ensure that performance management is practiced within the department to enhance performance, smooth staff relations and accountability.
  • Facilitate efficient and effective treasury and banking activities in line with GC guidelines and statutory requirements.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Experience: 3 yrs/4 yrs in Manager level
  • Preferred: MBA, MSc Finance
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer skills in Excel & Sun-systems software.
  • Demonstrated ability in supervision
  • Experience in managing donor funds
  • Working knowledge of Grants operations, finance services and practices is an added advantage.
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with staff-related to work environment needs
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and public
  • Intermediary level in English and fluent in French

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
  • Travel: 5% Domestic/international travel is required
