To strengthen the sense of partnership and strategic alignment between the membership and the national organization by serving as an advocate of the interests of members to key decision makers at the national organization and by supporting and managing the work of the Network Council or NAC, helping the NAC to be highly effective in representing network constituents and partnering with FANO leadership on strategy development and execution that has a significant impact on the membership.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop strategies, in conjunction with the NAC Chair, Vice Chair and FANO President, to enhance the relationship between the Members and the national office, strengthen member engagement, and support alignment and achievement of the strategic plan.
- Support the development of the NAC’s annual workplan, offering processes and approaches to the NAC Chair and Vice Chair to operationalize the prioritized goals of the NAC.
- Work closely and proactively with the NAC Chair, Vice Chair and FANO President to establish a NAC meeting calendar and to develop NAC meeting agendas in support of the annual NAC work plan, maintaining flexibility for emerging issues.
- Manage the NAC’s work plan and the deliverables of the Committees, Task Forces, etc., while keeping the NAC Chair informed of any issues.
- Coordinate reporting and updates of the NAC Advisory Groups and Communities of Practice to the NAC.
- Manage the national offices’ activities related to state associations, including fostering collaboration and communication with state associations and supporting the development of additional PSAs, as needed.
- Serve as the lead advocate for Member input on national office strategic initiatives. Engage the Senior Management Group and Executive Team as needed and collaborate on initiatives through the lens of the network.
- Serve as a trusted voice to the NAC and support them in shaping their work.
- Manage NAC communications, keeping all NAC members and other relevant parties informed.
- Provide direction to the Manager of Network Communication to support the NAC’s effective communication with network constituents.
- Provide direction to the Executive Assistant to the CEO it relates to NAC meetings logistics, constituent list management, and NAC materials and files.
- Serve as a key resource in achieving resolution of member disputes requiring mediation or arbitration by the NAC.
- Track and manage NAC election terms and timing and support election processes as needed to ensure the timely appointment of qualified new directors and the effective and seamless transition of NAC leadership.
- Develop and implement new NAC processes, as needed, including the coordination of activities while conducting research and gathering input.
- Other duties or special projects as identified by the President and/or NAC Chair.
Educational Background:
BA/BS required or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- Advanced degree preferred
- Relevant work experience in food banks, state associations or the national organization a plus

Required Technical Competencies and Experience
- 5-7 years’ experience in project management and collaborative endeavors.
- Strategic capability and ability to translate insights into effective communication and action plans.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task with a strong sense of meeting deadlines and follow-up.
- Must exercise strong customer service and problem-solving skills with a solution orientation.
- High degree of professionalism, flexibility and diplomacy.
- Attention to detail a must.
