Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Government Relations & Advocacy (GRA) team as the U.S. Advocacy Campaign Associate Director. Reporting to the Advocacy Campaigns Director, the U.S. Advocacy Campaign Associate Director will lead project management for Habitat for Humanity's first U.S. advocacy campaign to improve home affordability. They will support and track campaign implementation across its six primary objectives: building state and local network capacity, informing and mobilizing advocates, influencing federal policy, elevating housing affordability, mobilizing resources and coordinating the campaign. 

Working with the other members of the Advocacy Campaigns team, the Associate Director will be responsible for developing and ensuring implementation of a strategy -- in close collaboration with the Public Policy and Government Relations team -- for engagement of Habitat for Humanity's affiliated network in the U.S. Advocacy Campaign, including network communications, learning, enrollment, and mobilization. This position will also support other HFHI departments in engaging their audiences in the campaign. Located in Habitat's Washington D.C. office, this position will require approximately 15% domestic travel.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Monitor and report on campaign progress and performance
  • Manage communication and regular coordination across the Government Relations and Advocacy department, other HFHI departments, Habitat for Humanity’s network – including but not limited to network advocacy emails, social media, learning and mobilization – and organizational partners 
  • Work with GRA’s Public Policy and Government Relations team to engage and support Habitat affiliates and state support organizations in creating and implementing local and state campaigns, including oversight of development of tools and resources as necessary
  • Oversee affiliate enrollment and involvement in the campaign, and monitor their campaign activities
  • Support the allocation and monitoring of affiliate campaign challenge grants
  • Collaborate with other HFHI departments and organizations to engage their audiences in the campaign
  • Support key campaign stakeholder groups (i.e. Campaign Cabinet, Campaign Policy Task Force and affiliate affinity groups)
  • Coordinate campaign-related events as needed
  • Support the Resource Development department with fundraising efforts and donor reporting
  • Monitor campaign budget
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 plus years experience Project Management, Advocoacy and/ or the Public Policy process
  • Strong project leadership skills; able to manage multiple strands of work towards an overall objective; ability to bring the right people together at all levels to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Highly organized; ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to assess campaign effectiveness and recalibrate as necessary
  • Understanding of how to use policy analysis, research, lobbying, public campaigning, media and coalitions in support of an advocacy agenda; direct advocacy experience and knowledge of public policy processes
  • Excellent communicator across all types of written and oral communications; ability to reveal complex issues in a simple manner to different audiences across diverse channels
  • Track record of strong collaboration and communication across teams and networks
  • Experience with different modes of communications, including advocacy mobilization software, social media platforms esp. Twitter, etc. 
  • Experience with grassroots mobilization
  • Knowledge of learning processes and capacity building experience
  • Comfortable with a fast pace and rapidly changing environment; ability to learn quickly and handle ambiguity 
  • Knowledge of housing need within the U.S.
  • Familiarity with Habitat for Humanity and/or other affiliated networks
