The Associate Major Gift Officer has responsibility for strengthening and growing the donor base and the Advancement program to meet assigned financial goals. The Associate will be a key member of the team driving a strong revenue-oriented culture, as well as planning, managing, and implementing fund development strategies. The Associate works with Senior Major Gift Officers and other national staff to develop strategies and access resources to make their portfolios highly productive. The Associate maintains their own portfolio of assigned major donors and prospects, and personally makes solicitations. The Associate may represent the Senior MGO’s in cultivating donors with the greatest capacity and managing leadership volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accountable for achieving or exceeding target, with continual year-over-year growth, and for managing to Advancement expense target.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of annual and multi-year development plans for Advancement fundraising, in close collaboration with National Advancement staff, as directed.
  • Supports the development and implementation of a written, time- and revenue-based plan for research, identification, cultivation, proposal development, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, and foundation major gifts.
  • Prepares Senior Major Gift Officers for external meetings, including donor interactions, by preparing meeting briefings, stewardship reports, and solicitation materials—taking full advantage of available resources.
  • Prepares Senior Major Gift Officers for internal meetings, such as performance review and planning meetings, by running reports, analyzing performance metrics, and updating planning documents.
  • Pursues focused growth in major gifts area; works directly with major gift prospects, in coordination with the Senior Major Gift Officers.
  • Maintains his/her own portfolio of assigned major donors and prospects, develops solicitations and moves management plans, and personally makes solicitations over $10K in a range based upon Senior Major Gift Officers pipeline and potential.
  • Maintains, analyzes, and reports on all records of Advancement department, including, pipelines, moves Management plans, performance and finance metrics, and prospect research.
  • Implements, manages and analyzes set best practices for moves management and performance and financial milestones, results and projections.
  • Monitors trends in under $10K giving, leveraging available resources to coordinate year-end solicitations, as needed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a major gifts environment.
  • Proactive project manager an established track record of managing multiple, simultaneous projects to success.
  • Experience in opening doors, cultivation, and successfully closing major gifts.
  • Working knowledge of “best practices” in development.
