Under the direction of the District Executive Director, the District Director of Development directs and manages corporate and foundation giving, grant, and major gift activities pursuant to the goal to improve and strengthen the overall Bayview Hunters Point and Buchana branch of the YMCA of San Francisco fundraising outcomes.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Creating and implementing a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and opportunities for community programs
- Directs and coordinates the agency's process for government and private foundation grant submissions. Working in collaboration with agency and program leadership, the Director performs strategic research to identify likely grant sources, writes and prepares grant submissions, and coordinates the annual reporting requirements for all executed grant awards
- Recognizing, stewarding and cultivating prospective and existing donors
- Provide leadership support to all special events-fundraiser
- As a member of the Executive team, the District Director of Development provides leadership for the overall organization serving as a resource to branch personnel for best practices associated with corporate and foundation relations, major gift donors, board development and other philanthropic related topics
- This position works collaboratively with the Board of Managers and Executive Directors to build relationships with targeted external audiences, deepening the awareness of Bayview Hunters Point and Buchanan YMCAs’ mission and social impact in the communities we serve
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field; a master’s degree is preferred
Skills/Experience:
- At least five years of successful full-time experience in financial development or fundraising at a non-profit organization, with a strong emphasis on corporate and foundation management, grant management, major gifts, donor stewardship and cultivation, event management, marketing and communications
- The successful candidate must have the ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines and have the ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and manage own work as well as supervising others, making decisions and solving problem effectively and creatively
- The candidate must also possess strong organizational planning, and analytical skills, and have the ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, volunteers, and vendors. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively and effectively to garner cooperation in the absence of direct lines of authority and also requires high proficiency in computer skills and donor databases
- Knowledge of local foundation, corporate and individual giving sector is a plus
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
