The Director of Events and Individual Giving provides leadership and direction for general and signature fundraising events, including regional Reason to Hope Luncheons, the Annual Memories in the Making Art Auction and individual donor stewardship. This position is accountable for specific revenue goals and is responsible for planning, managing and executing assigned events. Successful outcomes will be defined in part by fundraising, sponsor relationships, donor cultivation and volunteer recruitment/utilization.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan and execute fundraising events including logistics, vendor contracts, promotion and the recruitment of participants, sponsors, artists and volunteers.  
  • Responsible for achieving revenue targets and expense budgets for all assigned events, with direct accountability for goals set forth in the annual budget.
  • Build understanding for the Alzheimer’s Association, its research, programs, public policy and services in all communications with current and potential and current volunteers and donors.
  • Manage the Chapter’s Individual Giving programs including annual Colorado Gives Day appeal, memorial and tribute programs, vehicle donations and general donations. 
  • Plan and execute the Chapter’s annual donor-recognition reception as well as other cultivation events throughout the year.
  • Working with the Event Coordinator, maintain updated spreadsheets and reports for each event.   
  • Utilize Team Approach, the Chapter’s data base platform, for prospect and donor management.
  • Maintain updated acknowledgment letters for donors.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to manage the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process for event and non-event donors and prospects. 
  • Recruit and train high impact volunteers who will assist the organization in increasing concern and awareness as well as growing revenue
  • Manage the Event Coordinator toward achieving outcomes and special event goals.  
  • Prepare reports and provide information as requested and required; oversee project budgets and maintain financial records for events.
  • Represent the Association at public events, conferences, workshops and media events.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the development, implementation and management of large fund-raising events and direct work with donors
  • Experience with gala-type events and proven success in making and closing fundraising requests of individuals and groups 
  • Ability to lead, guide and inspire staff and volunteers to achieve goals and objectives while demonstrating and promoting open communication, transparency and teamwork
  • Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly in large and small groups and network 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate a dedication to inclusion
  • Ability to effectively work and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts, including the ability to develop strong relationships in the community
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally as needed to perform job duties
  • Must have access to a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license and proof insurance
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
