The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Product Manager for our Institute for Precision Cardiovascular Medicine. This position is located in our National Centeroffice in Dallas, Texas (Remote/Home Based is acceptable) .
In this role, you will be responsible for customer facing, day to day product management of the Precision Medicine Platform (PMP) to include pre and post sales customer activities as well as for grantee facing, day to day product management of the PMP to include pre and post funding grantee activities. This role is an integral member of the product team and is responsible for building, enhancing, and managing this data analytics platform used by researchers/grantees. Position is both internal and external facing and works closely with team members across functions.
- Serve as the Institute’s voice of the Precision Medicine Platform (PMP) users (grantees and commercial customers) for product input and to understand and solve any challenges with the use of the platform. Act as the product team scientific specialist able to translate researchers’ needs into product requirements. Work with leadership and the product team to prioritize requirements and product improvements based on user needs, while also discerning whether user requirements are appropriate for development.
- Helps drive increased usage of the platform by Institute grantees, while providing input to business development initiatives that support commercialization.
- Work with the product team to provide on-boarding support to new PMP users.
- Represent the PMP at appropriate scientific conferences and business development events.
- Stay informed of the competitive landscape for PMP.
- Perform market research to assist leadership and the product team in determining pricing strategy for commercial customers.
- Using market knowledge and insights gained from grantees, work with leadership and the product team to develop business development strategies for commercial customers.
- Develop product marketing messages/value propositions for the PMP for use in marketing collateral and marketing events.
- In conjunction with leadership and Science Operations, develop budget and plan for Institute grants program. Work closely with Science Operations to ensure program is managed appropriately
- Provide regular reports as defined by management
- Work with leadership to coordinate pilot projects on an as needed basis.
- Previous experience in both the sciences and business – may be a combination of education and professional background.
- Three (3) years of experience in Product Management.
- Two (2) years of experience working in client facing roles.
- Excellent written and oral communications.
- Ability to ‘translate’ client needs into product requirements.
- Ability to work in a matrix environment under conditions of uncertainty.
- Self-starter, comfortable in fast paced environments.
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or related area.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with cloud-based SaaS tools preferred
- Experience working in a start-up environment useful.
