The American Cancer Society’s Global Cancer Treatment program works to improve access to cancer treatment in low and middle-income countries. The Program Manager is responsible for developing and coordinating projects that improve access to effective cancer treatment, including expedited diagnosis and improved access to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and essential pain medicines in low and middle-income countries. Current partner countries include Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. The Program Manager works closely with other members of a small headquarters team, ministries of health, and program staff based in our partner countries.
- Work with staff and partners to implement and scale up the Pain-Free Hospital Initiative, a program to train hospital-based health workers in the safe assessment and management of pain.
- Track the status of the program across implementing hospitals, oversee updates to the training curriculum, oversee tracking and monitoring of the program outcomes, and assist hospitals who want to start the program.
- Support program staff who serve as consultants to ministries of health or local organizations as well as hospital-based “staff champions” with implementation of the Initiative.
- Support and manage the American Cancer Society’s collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopia, including managing grants and contracts, budgets, and work planning.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:
- Minimum 5 years experience working in low or middle-income countries
SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position requires up to 20% travel in resource-limited settings.
