The Senior Director of EVP Operations works hand-in-hand with the Executive Vice President (EVP) on projects and activities that support the successful, best-in-class operations of the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate (MAA), including Board of Directors, collaboration with National Center, Senior Management Team (SMT), Affiliate Management Team (AMT) and relationships with key current and former volunteer leaders and top-level donors.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages all aspects of EVP projects, administrative and executive budgeting functions.
- Provides positive leadership to others in MAA as the main representative of the EVP.
- Creates strong interpersonal relationships with staff at all levels to ensure the EVP is kept apprised of any challenges facing specific volunteers, offices, and/or staff, to ensure that EVP is aware of opportunities that may arise, and to ensure that EVP’s messaging is on-point and consistent through all meetings/internal communications/special projects.
- Provides direction, guidance and supervision to all assigned tasks related to EVP Operations including management of the annual budget.
- Prepares town hall scripts.
- Conducts research and collaborates with appropriate staff as needed to successfully complete projects.
- Leads the MAA annual all staff meeting committee.
- Directly supervises an Administrative Assistant for EVP Operations.
- Manages orientations, retreats, teleconferences/meetings and special projects for the SMT, including agenda and exhibit development and management of post-meeting follow-up/action items and decisions.
- Works hand-in-hand with SMT as a partner.
- Partners with VP Human Resources/Talent Development to manage Affiliate Management Team (AMT) meetings, including collaborating on agenda development, materials preparation and meeting logistics.
- Develops and implements a year-round affiliate board member engagement plan and tracks board member activities and progress against the strategic focus areas identified by the affiliate board and EVP.
- Ensures affiliate and local board connectivity.
- Collaborates with the SVP of Health Strategies in the execution of the annual Volunteer Summit and serves as project manager for the operational and logistical aspects of the Summit as it relates to the attendees’ experience.
- Administers the national and affiliate board and committee nomination process, as well as the affiliate and national volunteer awards programs.
- Maintains a robust volunteer leadership pipeline, in collaboration with field staff leaders and the EVP, featuring qualified, diverse candidates for the affiliate and national committees and Boards of Directors and administers the corresponding cultivation, succession planning, slate management, submission and follow-up.
- Drafts and executes specialized remarks, speeches, scripts, presentations, content and correspondence for the EVP and affiliate board members to use internally and externally, as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. Related experience may be substituted for a degree.
Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, organize, train, manage and utilize staff and volunteers effectively, including C-suite level executive volunteers and volunteer/board management experience.
- Self-motivated, highly effective organization and analytical skills, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients
- Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority.
- Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
- Community organization experience with non-profit organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of fund raising and maintaining sales relationships at corporate and community levels
- Ability to travel and accommodate volunteer scheduling needs beyond regular hours
Required Experience:
- Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years of experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
- Experience in project management.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in related field. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
