YMCA of Newark and Vicinity is seeking Supportive Services Specialists for the Emergency Residence Program. This program provides emergency housing, case management and support services to families and individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing in Essex, Union and Hudson County areas. Qualified candidates will provide support services to resident families and individuals while promoting the agency culture of learning, respect and dignity.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible to collaborate for client intakes and assessments, psychosocial evaluations, ILPs and referrals to community resources.
- Provide case management to ensure families and individuals remain housed and goals are being addressed.
- Make needed referrals for mainstream and supportive services; arrange meetings with consumer, consumer supportive system and outside providers to coordinate services and brainstorm solutions to problems.
- Focus of Housing First and Housing Stabilization must be maintained.
- Must maintain required caseload up to 35 families, complete documentation in a timely manner, document accurate communication log and progress notes.
- Provide families and individuals with transportation if needed/conduct home visits.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Service field (Masters preferred) and/or minimum five years of proven experience working with displaced population.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience working with homelessness and mental health population.
- Knowledge of principle and practices of social work, social economic problems, and State and local resource agencies.
- Strong human relations skills.
- Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours if necessary.
- Knowledge of the Homeless Management Information System, a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) a plus.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
