The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Statistical Analyst in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas .
This role plays an integral part in supporting the daily functions of the Centers for Health Metrics and Evaluation. These analysts are responsible for the organization, analysis, and reporting of data collected from various sources, including AHA program data and national health surveillance data. The Statistical Analysts also use various visualization and business intelligence tools to provide a clear understanding and communication of data to support organizational decision making.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Design, build, maintain, and deploy data sources used for Tableau development across AHA.
- Assists in preparation of statistical reports for AHA internal programs using dynamic reporting platform of R and other software.
- Monitor and maintain data sources hosted on Tableau Server (e.g. setting refresh schedules, monitoring for issues, diagnosing, and troubleshooting issues).
- Develop interactive/dynamic dashboards with tools like Tableau and R.
- Perform basic statistical analysis for AHA program evaluation data.
Educational Background:
Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Business Analytics or a related field of study.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience building, implementing and supporting Tableau data visualizations.
- Experience in statistical analysis and modeling which includes hypothesis
- testing, logistic and linear regression, parametric and non-parametric methods
- Proficient with database management and analytic tools and languages supporting data analysis and reporting - R, Python, SQL, and Excel.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Proficiency in visual analytics, dashboard creation, and dynamic reporting.
- Excellent written communication skills with a focus on interpretation of statistical output appropriate for a variety of audiences (Science, Media, Lay, etc.).
- Understanding of data visualization best practices.
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Candidate has an interest in cardiovascular and brain health promotions.
- Experience in Business Intelligence tools like Anteryx, Qlikview.
- Experience with analysis of data focused on cardiovascular disease epidemiology or similar/related chronic disease.
- Tableau and other data science certifications.
