The Founders Affiliate of the American Heart Association is recruiting for a Quality & Systems Improvement Data Abstractor part-time temporary opportunity in the Healthcare Quality and Systems Improvement Department of our Albany, NY office. This position will work 12-16 hours weekly onsite at Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY. Pay for this opportunity is $12.00 per hour.
This position is ideal for a college graduate-level, seeking part-time work on our Healthcare Quality and Systems Improvement team to work on our Get With The Guidelines Programs. This position will combine client-focused responsibilities with data abstraction and analysis skills training. We are looking for applicants who possess technical aptitude and attention to detail. A degree in a related field and prior experience preferred.
- clinical data abstraction, entry and coordination with assigned hospital clinical team;
- learn project database coding definitions and identify appropriate information sources from hospital records;
- review clinical data collected from various sources for abstraction into project database;
- maintain current HIPAA compliance training and adhere to ethical standards consistent with training;
- prepare reports and analyses demonstrating progress, roadblocks, and appropriate recommendations for project success and/or conclusions as requested;
- assist with development and implementation of regional systems for treating heart attack patients.
In this role, you will report to our Director, Quality & Systems Improvement in New York State and will work with staff and clinical teams at the assigned hospital.

- experience in hospital, clinical, quality improvement or EMS setting;

- experience with data analysis;
- cardiac care knowledge/experience is a plus.
Education:
- Related fields can include: pre-medicine, public health, healthcare administration, nursing or other technical healthcare fields.
Experience:
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in healthcare: clinical or quality improvement. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
