The Impact Planning Manager plays a key role in driving execution of the multiyear strategic plan by supporting the alignment, focus, and planning of the Impact Department’s work. This individual will work closely with the Chief Impact Officer and Impact Leadership Team (ILT) to develop and implement systems and tools in order to ensure consistency in quality, direction, timeliness, and presentation of Departmental deliverables. This individual will also seek to maximize cross-team learning by identifying opportunities for collaboration and alignment between and across the Research and Program teams (Equitable Access, Health and Nutrition, and Food Security) as part of the planning process. This position will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Strategic Initiatives to ensure strong linkage to the broader Feeding America planning, budgeting, and reporting processes. The Impact Planning Manager will also play an important role in coordinating and supporting cross-team work of the Department and in leading the agenda planning and execution of cross-team meetings (including for ILT and department-wide meetings). The Impact Planning Manager will also facilitate communications and outreach to other departments, including Strategy, Finance, Development, and Member Services.
- Supports execution of the Impact Team’s multiyear plan by implementing and maintaining process and tools to support effective planning and short and medium-term goal setting and track project status and performance.
- Aligns and coordinates individual projects and core functions across the Impact Team and other departments, including finance, IT, fundraising, and member communications. Provides support to project teams to promote collaboration and issue resolution.
- Supports budget planning, monitoring, and coordination across the Impact Team and with Finance Department.
- Supports across all Impact teams (research and programs) in project and budget management including overseeing partner RFPs and contracts.
- Works closely with Director Strategic Initiatives to build and deploy enhanced systems and processes for project management, budgeting, and reporting.
- Develops reports on Impact department activities and performance for audiences including executives and the network. Oversee execution of network communications including the Impact newsletter, webinars and conference sessions and mapping out a content schedule for the year.
- Responsible for meeting design, planning and coordination for Impact Leadership Team and All Impact Team retreats and meetings, including scheduling, agenda development/process design and ensuring clear meeting action planning and follow-up.
- Lead and/or support cross-team projects, as assigned.
- Support the Chief Impact Officer on the development and execution of special projects, as assigned.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues across Feeding America departments.
- 5 years of experience in finance, strategic planning, program management, or management consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to see how decisions and choices affect the long-term and short-term outcomes of projects and programs.
- Experience with sophisticated analytics and reporting.
- Experience with process design and improvement and meeting facilitation to support strategy development, planning and resource utilization.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects against critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail.
- Strong strategic thought process with ability to understand the perspective of multiple functions, including how decisions affect the long-term and short-term outcomes of projects.
- Experience working effectively up and down organization and with external stakeholders.
- Experience managing budgets, ideally in relationship to grants and strategies.
- Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and ability to use diplomacy and influence to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced user skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications to accomplish job assignments.
- This role is likely to travel periodically (roughly 15%), including between the Chicago and Washington D.C. offices, and to attend special events.
