The purpose of this position is to provide Basic Level I technical support in all areas of PCs, PC related hardware/software, Microsoft Desktop applications, E-Mail for the Save the Children home office and remote staff members
Areas of Responsibility:
- Keep manager informed of important issues
- Build effective relationships within their immediate or peer workgroup
- Accountable for day to day decisions around execution of job, and for setting clear objectives and measures for self
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters related to functional area.
- Require supervision on routine work assignments
- Provide Basic Level I technical support for standard PC hardware and software to the Save the Children home office and remote staff members. Diagnose and correct basic problems with PC hardware and software. Coordinate vendor support where necessary. Install PC hardware and software, imaging, and configuration, including connecting PCs to the LAN. Keep individuals inform as to the status of their request for PC assistance. Record all requests in the appropriate help desk system (60%)
- Provide as needed back-up support for the Helpdesk Administrator when necessary. (20%) Provide as needed back-up phone support and perform physical moves, additions and changes for users when relocated within the Fairfield, Washington, DC or Lexington, KY office (5%)
- Perform inventory management. Keep track of all PC related items (software, PCs, cables, etc.) in order to provide an accurate Agency inventory at all times. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date inventory database from which reports can be generated at any time to access the Agency’s PC related assets. (5%)
- Provide Service Desk Support for new hires, Conclusions of Employment and ticket triage when necessary (10%)
Educational Background:
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience:
- You must have a minimum 1-2 years' relevant work experience with Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with software, hardware, and end-user support.
- Learned knowledge and skills to support variety of routine tasks requiring some degree of difficulty
- Knowledge of Windows technology and how it applies in an enterprise context
- Experience with Microsoft Office and its components.
- Good working knowledge of a variety of PC software and hardware from different manufacturers.
- Ability to learn new software packages and hardware configurations.
- Familiarity with network environments
- End user training
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Solid attention to detains and ability to follow instructions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills
