The Development Specialist is accountable for the performance and success of fundraising events and strategies across a Wisconsin service territory to meet revenue goals. They will mobilize and manage volunteers, execute multiple Walk to End Alzheimer's, and plan and execute other special events and fundraising initiatives according to timelines and best practices.

The position is based in Chippewa Falls and reports to the Director of Development. Frequent travel is required throughout the chapter's region.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as staff lead for a portfolio of events including though not limited to:  Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, and RivALZ in designated territory.
  • Actively recruits, trains, and supports high impact volunteers that will assist in increasing concern and awareness as well as growing revenue in designated territory.
  • Represents Chapter at public events, conferences and media events as assigned.
  • Provides support to overall fundraising operations of the territory including: volunteer management; customer service to constituents; database mining and management; donor/sponsor/advocate relations and communications; management of vendor relations; etc.
  • Adheres to all branding and marketing efforts as outlined by the Alzheimer's Association.
  • Prepares reports and provides information as requested and required; oversees project budgets and maintain financial records for events.
  • Participates in all staff, team, committee and other internal and external meetings as requested.
  • Participates in conferences and training as requested.
  • Contributes to creating a work environment that supports teamwork, collaboration and cooperation between volunteers, staff and departments. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of office experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience in the non-profit sector and special event fundraising
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work independently and take initiative in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Possess the ability to cultivate, motivate and engage volunteers
  • Extremely organized with extra attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience with fundraising applications, such as Convio and other social media programs preferred
  • Possess a valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
  • Ability and willingness to travel by car for frequent day trips (approximately 25%) with an occasional overnight trip as needed to conduct Chapter business
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings or weekend work as required for the job
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25lbs
