The Finance department supports the Global operations of PSI.  This includes operations in 60+ countries.  Donors including the United States Government, other foreign governments, international organizations, corporations, and private philanthropists come together to support PSI’s mission.  The financial and reporting requirements of each donor are accounted for within this department.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant, Inventory to help us account for inventory in complex working environments.  PSI maintains inventory in many countries throughout the world.  This level of exposure allows for an Inventory accountant to gain experience in multiple types of inventory with the complexity of multiple warehouses (physical and virtual), multiple currencies, and multiple tracking systems.

As a Senior Accountant specializing in Inventory, PSI is looking for a motivated individual who embraces change and positive process improvements.  Considering this, we are looking for an accountant who is always considering risk in a complex environment, while considering the practical side of process implementation.  Furthermore, PSI is looking for someone who can utilize technology to ensure efficiency and a streamlined approach to recording and analyzing inventory, as well as preparing reconciliations.  PSI is a dynamic and challenge filled environment with a global impact; this is a fun position to give someone many opportunities to exercise their full potential.

Areas of Responsibility: 

PSI seeks highly skilled applicants for the position of Senior Accountant, Inventory to provide support to PSI’s global mission. 

You will: 

  • Recognize and implement process improvements across inventory functions with consideration of the impact on the multiple countries;
  • Be a point of contact for field offices to assist with financial operational issues;
  • Analyze revenue, deferred revenue, inventory and COGS journal entries in financial system;
  • Analyze year-end valuation of all inventories;
  • Be the owner of complex reconciliations for enterprise funds, non-enterprise funds, and donated commodities, understanding risk and performing research/remediation as needed;
  • Utilize current technologies to increase capacity and efficiency among the Finance team;
  • Strong information technology skills to be able to adapt and connect multiple data sources, including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Prepare and provide trainings to meet individual and organizational needs;
  • Provide assistance with internal and external audit requirements as required;
  • Complete special projects, as assigned; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience, CPA highly desirable;

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • 4+ years of accounting experience in financial reporting, non-profit environment or public accounting, with a preference towards public accounting or inventory experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP;
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to work independently and on a team in a cooperative, problem-solving capacity;
  • Can multitask and prioritize multiple tasks based on deadlines;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge; and
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting, MS Office, and Excel.
