Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne seeks to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the successful leadership and management of Habitat according to its mission and strategic direction set with the Board of Directors.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Work alongside the Board to develop the vision and corresponding strategic plan for the organization.
- Develop and sustain accountability throughout Habitat’s departments to execute the strategy
- Foster strong working relationships between the Board and executive team as well as executive team and staff
- Identify, assess and inform the Board of internal and external issues and work with them to resolve
- Represent Habitat and enhance its reputation in the community and at national events
- Assist in the recruitment and establishment of new board members
- Oversee the operation and achievement of results as set by the Board and/or executive team
- Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate
- Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agenda and supporting materials
- Ensure the programs and services offered by Habitat contribute to the mission and reflect the priorities of the Board
- Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
- Create and maintain an efficient and productive staff including development, training, team-building, hiring, on-boarding and terminating of team members
- Work with the Finance Committee to prepare a comprehensive budget and lead team to meet budgetary goals
- Lead all fundraising initiatives to ensure annual goals are met including the ongoing recruitment and retention of new individual and organizational donors
- Ensure profitable operation of the Habitat ReStore and mortgages along with continual improvement to further drive up contribution of these initiatives to overall mission
- Develop new options to assist with general cash flow and working capital, including grants, investments or otherwise
- Act as ambassador, advocate and liaison for all stakeholders in accordance with the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity
Educational Background:
Related Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience:
- 5-10 years’ experience in executive management (preferably General Manager or CEO)
- 3-5 years’ experience with a nonprofit organization (preferably in some leadership role or board position)
- Proven success and results of growing revenues and/or profitability of an organization
- Desired experience in a successful fundraising role
- Active involvement in the community and strong relational skills with community and organizational leaders
- Experience facilitating training and education programs
